our first wedding anniversary

Wow, has it really been a year since our wedding?  Its gone so quickly.  Rob booked the week off work and we are having a fabulous time.  We decided to stay at home and go for days out.  On the Sunday, the actual anniversary we had booked a table at a delightful place called Morton Tea Rooms.  In the 1900's it used to be a school house.  The weather was shockingly dreadful but we had fun in the Landrover splashing puddles and the meal was fabulous. 

 Then on the Monday, we went to a picknic spot we both love called Buckham Down.  It used to be a rubbish dump, look at it now.

 Then on Tuesday we went to my favourite of all places Cannoteign Falls near Bovey Tracy in Devon.  We saw Three gorgeous black swans.  It boasts the highest waterfall in England, and it is very impressive.  I didnt make it to the top but I gave it a good go and gave in gracefully.  I left an offering of some crystals in the waterfall and immediately afterwards I saw a yellow pied wagtail which I hadnt seen before and then we found a swallows nest with mum settling in for the afternoon.

The funniest thing happened yesterday.  Mum had brought some fruit trees from Ebay and as I helped her open the tall boxes they had come in I saw something moving. I was stunned beyond belief to find it was a Toad.  I shrieked as it hopped out and went oh my god a toad, then mum shrieked as it hopped in the hallway and said catch it quick.  We did catch it and put it in our pond with the other toads and frogs already there.  The poor thing had been in the box all the way from Norfolk no wonder it was struggling to get out. 

Thorncombe woods experience

We had a very hot few days and yesterday we decided to visit a favourite place of ours close to Thomas Hardy's cottage.  IT was really hot and sticky. I struggled a bit with the heat but what we saw was well worth it.
                                                           THORNCOMBE WOODS

A 26-hectare site, close to Dorchester, incorporating broadleaved and mixed woodland and Black Heath, a mosaic of birch and heath.  Listed on the Ancient Woodland Inventory, Thorncombe Woods has great habitat diversity with mature oak, sweet chestnut, beech and mixed woodland. The woodland gives way to Black Heath an area of birch and open areas of bracken and heath as well as a small pond. Dormice have been recently recorded and Song Thrush, Marsh Tit and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, all red listed birds of conservation concern, breed in the wood. On Black Heath it is possible to see Dartford Warblers, Yellow Hammers and Nightjars. There are also rare invertebrates associated with both the woodland and heathland.

Running through the site is a well preserved Roman road which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM). There are a variety of paths to explore throughout the site linking in with local rights of way to Puddletown Forest and Dorchester.

When we heard a bit of rustling.  We turned to look and to our amazement and delighted shock 4 horses came trotting up to the pond.  Obviously they were as hot and thirsty as we were.

They munched, drank and nibbled before getting curious.  They came right up to us

It was such a surprise.  Apparently they are Dartmoor Ponies that Thorncombe woods have acquired for forest Conservation.  For us it just made our weekend

New alter for May, herbs in my garden and Gyno operation

Hi everyone

I hope you are all well. This is a bit of a mixed bag post. I wanted to show you the photos of my new Alter. I have aquired a few new things. A crows wing, a fairy beeswax tapered candle and some beeswax hangings. Also a card that my mum got me. I absolutely love it. I have had quite a week.  This Monday I went in for a simple gyneological operation.  A noversure ablation to stop my very heavy and painful periods.  I have had it done before and it went well but only worked for about a year and a half.  So I go in.  They had to reset my pacemaker, turn it off basically, for the op and boy I am so very pleased that I have a pacemaker.  My muscles around the heart are sore.  IT is all working fine again now.  Well they couldnt procede with the op as I had complications.  I was all set to go home, as it was day surgery, when I mentioned I was uncomfortable with pain and they kept me in.  Just as well because I haemeraged so badly and had huge blood clots they had preped the theatre and crossmatched me two pints of blood.  Well after constantly asking my angels to help and getting mad at them in the end something happend.  It was just like someone had turned off a tap.  It wasnt the operation that caused it, they had overdosed me on warfrin and clexane which meant I couldnt clot properly to stop the bleeding.  Well now they are recommending the biggy.  Hysterectomy, which I really am NOT keen on.  I am going to see if there is other pain relief that can help before I consider that one.  But, I am ok now, just a wee bit sore but that is ok.

My Lavender.  It is such an amazing lavender.  There is a story behind it.  When we moved in five years ago the very first plant I brought was this lavender.  It was in a tiny pot and the lavender was so small.  Well with the hastle of moving in I kind of forgot about the plant.  It had been put there by our door.  Now it is the magnificant specimin you see before you and yes it is pot bound.  I gave it a real pruning last year and you should see the new growth on it. 

My rosemary in the black round tub.  It seems to like it there.  The red plant at the back is my Acer.  Another favourite plant of mine.

 

I am thinking about..............

Hi everyone. 

I am thinking about setting up a ning site.  I have been getting lots of inspiration for this.  My site would include

• Art demonstrations such as mixed media projects
• Card and scrapbook making projects.
• jewellery making projects
• pagan crafts projects, ie dream pillows
• herb information
• fairy crafts ie bauballs for xmas
• Seasonal crafts. 

There will be video's, PDF files, forums, and I may even do the occasional tarot and angel reading.

What I wanted to know was would there be the interest for this?  I will have to make small charges for some of the bigger video projects but should be around $10.00 per project.  This is because Ning as most of you may know now charge for their service.  I am not looking to make lots of money here just want to pass my knowledge on so please let me know what you guys think

Aqua fin tastic

Its my Birthday!!!

Yay.  today I am the wrong side of 30.  36 to be precise.  Time is certainly flying by

Yesterday as part of my birthday I was treated to an Aqua fin massage.  Lots of little fish that suck away at the rough skin on your feet.  Its sounds a bit UUURRRG but when you go and see it its great fun.  Well the girl put my feet in and they hold your feet down because if  you kick the fish they die.  So I shrieked like a pathetic shrieky thing and the poor girls who were waiting said "I've changed my mind" but they didnt.  It is just that first minute but the sensation is like when you put the shower on Jet and put it under your feet.  It's quite lovely.  Plus you get a foot massage as well all for £15.00.  I had extra chiropody on my feet as they are in a bad way.  so it cost me £25.00 well my hubby paid for it.

Oh and I got 3 flippin boxes of chocolates from people that should really know better.  They know that I am supposed to be loosing weight but that I will eat all the chocolate. 

what we did the weekend.

Well just a little bit of fun we had on the bank holiday.  After we had watched the wedding of PRince William and Katherine Middleton.
The weather stayed dry and we partied away with a few hundred friends.

Had a blast stared off our Rally season with a bang.  Took me a while to recover, but I cant wait for the next Harley Rally
