Yesterday and today

Hi everyone.

Yesterday was a lovely day.  Rob had a Monday off which we spent having a lazy day.  Lunchtime we went to our local Macdonalds for lunch.  Not healthy I know but I do love their fries.  We pulled up in the carpark and ate our lunch in the car.  This was our view

A mother swan and her seven signets came on the lawn to show off.  That is exactly what they were doing.  But arent they so gorgeous.  I love swans I never tire of them.  THen we went to Matalan and did our weekly shop in Asda.

                                                                     TODAY
A drery foggy day which I spent doing housework and crafting.  That was until my glue gun decided to blow up on me.  I've only had it a week.  Fortunately I wasnt holding it when it happened so avoided electric shock.  But the noise and the sparks were enough to get my heart racing.  I have written and clmplained so will see if I get my money back.  I was enjoying making my halloween flip mini book.  I will have to wait until I get another glue gun now.  Still.  I went into the garden and I found to great delight that my Peace Rose bush that I brought in tribute to my nana as it was always her favourite flower Had a full rose on it.  Last year it all but died and I reluctantly give it a harsh pruning but it did the job.

I love the slight delicate shade of pink that is on the tip of the rose petals.  Nature is such a wonderful artist dont you think?

Practical magic post

My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage! - Aunt Frances Owens
ITs funny but that quote means a lot to me.  I was always wishing I was normal growing up, because of my health issues.  My mum said pretty much the same thing to me.  Now who I am is ME.

The house, wouldnt you just give anything for that house.  All that magic in the garden, the love spell, I love how the roses floated up past the moon.
Practical Magic.  You know I just love that film.  It has always been one of my favourites.  I love the aunts.  I think they are such great characters.  I adore the wacky costumes they wore.
When the girls realise he is the one and they go all that way to get rid of the potion Gillian had made to make him go away.  Its a shame that he came in only half way through the movie.  He's just gorgeous, dont you think?
I just so love the ending when they do this and everyone is watching in awe.

so remember, plant lavender for luck and always toss the salt over your shoulder

An Ambitious Weekend

Hi Everyone

Well we have had a very wet but fab weekend.  Saturday night saw us having a meal with my best friend and her partner that had come to stay in Weymouth for a couple of days.  Had a great time catching up and have made plans to stay with Emma in October.  On the Sunday we drove down to The Great Western Canal by Tiverton.  It was a ride out with the Harley group we belong to.  However because it was wet and I still cant do long journey on the bike yet, we drove down in our defender.  We had a good turnout considering it was so wet.  20 bikes showed up and a fair few in cars like us.  The ride on the narrow boat was so much fun.  Of course we took the weather in our stride and we cracked jokes etc.

Then after the canal ride it was back to Dawn and Snowman's (his nickname) Chris's house out in the wilds for ploughman's and homemade scones and cakes.  I stuffed my face silly.  Then Chris announced that his next door neighbour who keeps reptiles was showing them in his conservatory.  Well I have always loved snakes and lizards but never had the oportunity to hold them.  He had tarantula's there as well.  I was a bit more nervous about them but

it was something I have always wanted to do.  I was a bit shaky after the tarantula but it was so fascinating.  They feel completely different to house spiders which I do have a problem with.

Gypsy Dreams Blog Party Post

Hi everyone.

I am so excited to take part in this blog party.  I have always had a fascination with Gypsies.  One time long ago when I was able to work a magical thing happened.  I used to run the village post office and one lunchtime I happened to see a gypsy caravan (known as Vardo's) go past.  The owner was walking with the horse rather than in the wagon and the caravan was the real deal.  The paintwork was just so amazing and stunningly beautiful.  Then I couldn't quite believe what I saw next.  6 more gypsy caravans, with the owners walking with the horses.  Oh I was quite taken aback by the splendid site.  I have never seen anything like it since.  I have been fascinated by them since that moment.  By the way 7 has always been my lucky number.

Friday the 2nd September, just gone.  We went to the Great Dorset Steam fair.  We go every year and boy it was so hot I couldn't do very much, its such a huge 600 acre site.  I did about 3 miles worth.  Well they had some gypsy caravans you could go and look in.  Of course camera in hand I did just that.

Aren't they just delightful.  I was told that when they use their tripod to boil the kettle and make food they always cut a tuft of grass.  This is because the fire they make scorches the grass.  They replace the square patch with the square of grass they cut out, so when they leave the area is in the same condition it was in before they came.

Thanks to Celia at http://mygypsydreams.blogspot.com/ for hosting this fab blog party.

Hello Dolly

Hello Dolly

My mum has brought a dog.  She has been wanting one for ages, but wanted a smallish one that doent shed too much fur.  Then on the 7th of September 2011 Little Dolly was delivered to her house.  10 weeks old and a cute bundle of fluff.  She is a Jackadoodle also known as Jackapoo's.  A Jack Russell and poople cross.  She has settled in so much and is the sweetest little thing.  Fiesty but she loves your lap.  She is going to the vets on Monday to get her jabs and chipped.  I cant wait to post more pictures.

Our next door neighbour, Carol, she loves her too, as does Carols dog Holly. A white westie.

Nightmares and lack of sleep

Hi all

I have been having a lot of unbroken sleep lately.  Nightmares have been waking me up and I am having them almost everynight.  Mostly about people close to me who are alive being dead.  I was hoping some of you might know a bit about dreams and what they might mean.  The doctors werent much help as they said if its the medication we cant stop it as I need it for my condition.  Sigh, heres hoping to a better nights sleep tonight hey.

The Trouble with Glitter

Hi all

So blogger has been driving me mad not letting me into my own account, grrrr.  Well it seams to be sorted now at least.  The other day, whilst making some Halloween/Samhain cards I had a little accident.  IT involved a jar of Embossing glitter powder.  Not glitter like the title says but the Embossing powder had glitter in it.  I must have been getting tired to have had this accident.  Normally I am very careful about putting the lids back on when not using them.

So the moral of the story is to avoid an accident of the glittery kind always put the lid on.  Alternatively, blame it on the fairies.  PErsonally I like to think it was them playing and not my own clumsiness.
